چکیده
Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ADCC) is a pathology aff ecting exocrine glands originating primarily from the minor salivary glands. Although rare in incidence, but there are cases of seeding of cells of adenoid cystic carcinoma into intracranial sites via diff erent routes. We report of an intriguing case of remote metastasis of an intracranial tumor in the pituitary diagnosed as pituitary adenoma which spread to the oral cavity as ADCC. According to our perspective, it is the fi rst reported case of seeding of cells from intracranial pituitary adenoma to intra-oral site manifesting as ADCC.

متن کاملImmunohistochemical Expression of CD56 and ALDH1 in Common Salivary Gland Tumors
Introduction: Natural killer (NK) cells, of which CD56 is a specific marker, play an important role in host defense against tumors. Cancer stem cells, of which aldehyde dehydrogenase isoform 1 (ALDH1) is an immunohistochemical marker, are a group of tumorigenic cells which are involved in migration and tumor recurrences. We aimed to evaluate the expression of ALDH1 and CD56 in common salivary g...

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is a malignant neoplasm, which accounts for 5-10% of all salivary gland tumors (1). About 50% of these tumors originate from intraoral minor salivary glands usually in the hard palate (1). Three clinically obvious characteristics of AdCC include slow growth rate, perineural invasion and high incidence of distant metastasis (1). The most commonly-affected sites of...
متن کاملTwo Different Cell Populations Is an Important Clue for Diagnosis of Primary Cutaneous Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma: Immunohistochemical Study
Primary cutaneous adenoid cystic carcinoma (PCACC) is a very rare malignancy. The differential diagnosis of PCACCs in pathology practice can be difficult and a group of primary and metastatic lesions, including adenoid basal cell carcinoma of the skin, should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Besides histomorphological clues, immunohistochemistry studies are very helpful in the diffe...
